Yes, Cyber Monday is a great time to buy a gaming laptop. Not only do they get marked down because of the holiday shopping season, but they're also on sale because stores are trying to clear out their inventory before new models launch next year.

What should you look for in a gaming laptop?

Without getting too in-depth, these are the general specs you should keep an eye out for in a new gaming laptop:

  • CPU: Intel Core 13th-generation, or AMD Ryzen 70-series
  • Graphics card: Nvidia RTX 40- or 30Ti-series GPU
  • Storage: 512GB solid state drive (SSD) or higher
  • RAM: At least 16GB DDR5

Models with older components, like 12th-gen Intel chips or standard 30-series Nvidia GPUs, are solid as well — but laptops with newer hardware have come down in price enough now that they almost always provide better bang for your buck.
